Ursamen held their second installment of their Mr. Connecticut
Bear Weekend from August 2-4, 2013, and history repeated
itself. A sold out block of hotel rooms, a bar jam-packed
to the rafters, and a rip-roaring good time was had
by bears, cubs, and admiriers from several states, including
Connecticut, Massachussetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey,
New York, and Maryland, among others. With the addition
of a shuttle bus between Tommy's and the host hotel,
most agreed, this was not only a great idea, but great
But the big news of the weekend was the Mr. Connecticut
Bear 2014 contest held Saturday night at Tommy's in
Middletown. It was a night to celebrate the many accomplishments
of Richard Shepard, Mr. Connecticut Bear 2013, whose
successful title year included the raising of over $4000
in charitable donations to True Colors and Safe Homes
of Worcester, MA. Richard gave a heartfelt speech before

The three competitors for this year's title were presented
one last time on stage in their Bear Pride Wear: Mikey
B of Providence, RI, Trell Walters of Naugatuck, CT,
